Why divide out dough balls? These are based on some previous chewy chocolate chip cookies, but with even more richness to accommodate the bar form (and/or altitude).
- 1 cup (2 sticks) melted real butter
- 2 Tbsp neutral oil, such as canola or vegetable
- 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 2 1/2 cups dark or semisweet chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and coat a 9 x 13 inch cake pan with cooking spray.
- Whisk together the butter, oil, and sugars.
- Mix in the eggs and vanilla until smooth, then whisk in the baking soda and salt.
- Slowly incorporate the flour until you have something gloppy (not quite as thick as cookie dough!), then mix in the chocolate chips.
- Spread evenly in pan, and bake for ~10 minutes, or until still a bit moist. Don’t overdo it!
- Cool before cutting into bars.
oh, geez. I have a class reunion coming up in a month. I do NOT need to be eating these LOL!
