Egg Yolk Decimator Brownies

I wanted to make an angel food cake, and promised to use up the extra egg yolks accordingly.

I failed at the angel food cake, but these turned out fine!


1 cup vegetable oil or melted butter, or 50/50!
2 cups sugar
8 leftover egg yolks, beaten
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking powder
2/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup flour
1 cup dark chocolate chips

Enhancements are fun! 😀 Try adding one of the following to your batter:

  • 1/2 tsp peppermint or almond extract, in addition to the vanilla. You could also use minty chocolate bits in place of regular chocolate chips!
  •  1 cup walnut or pecan pieces
  • Finely chop those walnuts or pecans, and add 1/4 tsp salt, 1-2 Tbsp cinnamon, and 1-2 Tbsp coarse sugar. Sprinkle on top, and gently swirl with a knife before baking.
  • 1/4 cup fruit-flavored vodka in the batter, then some dollops + knife swirls of the same sort of jelly


Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and prepare a 13 x 9 inch pan.

Whisk together the butter/oil and sugar, then beat in the egg yolks and vanilla.

Combine all dry ingredients except chocolate chips in a separate bowl, then slowly pour and whisk into the wet stuff. If it’s just too stiff, add a little milk to compensate.

Stir in the chocolate chips.

Spread batter into pan, and bake for 30+ minutes, or until reasonably done but still fudgy.
